Hey :) So, first I would say check out Youtube tutorials on proper bench form, and, if possible, bring a friend to the gym with you to spot you the first time around! If the bar still feels heavy, you can always substitute it for a dumbbell bench press with lighter weight. And the thing is, even though the gym can feel like a fish bowl sometimes, everyone really is there for themselves; and most everyone feels uncomfortable or hesitant about what they’re doing at some point! It’s important to remember that you’re just as entitled to the space as the next person, and that if you go in there with a plan and some confidence, some of that hesitation will surely slip away :) xx
